I’m thrilled that my translation of Marina Ivanovna Cvetaeva‘s notebooks with Voland was awarded the 2014 “Premio Italia-Russia. Attraverso i secoli” for best debut translation. Here are two photos from the ceremony at Villa Abamelek, the Russian Embassy in Rome. The second photo is with Serena Vitale, whose own fabulous translations of Cvetaeva introduced the poet to me before I could read her for myself in Russian.
